DeepSquare-ai is the Lichess bot of DeepSquare, a chess engine with its own hand-crafted evaluation. Its Lichess blitz rating was about 2,700 on 25 September 2026 – and it can tell you why it thinks what it thinks.
How !explain works
- Type !explain in the game chat. After the game the bot explains the final position; spectators get it live.
- !explain 23 explains the position after White’s 23rd move, !explain 23b after Black’s.
- The answer names the evaluation, the three biggest factors out of twelve evaluation blocks and, if there is one, a real threat.
Example answerEval +0.1 (equal). Key factors: White's piece placement (+0.7), White's mobility (+0.5), Black's threats (+0.4).
Challenge the bot
- Open the bot’s profile on Lichess.
- Choose “Challenge to a game”; 3+2 or 2+1 are accepted most reliably. Rated and casual both work.
- The bot plays one game at a time. If it is busy, try again in a few minutes.
